Marion Polakov came form a family of unionism. She was familiar with organizing meetings and picket lines. She served as the first financial secretary of the Steel Workers Organizing Committee (SWOC) and organized Local 2497 at Hanna Furnace.

Additionally, Polakov became the first women appointed to a municipal commission in the City of Buffalo, and severed two terms on the city’s Zoning Board of Appeals.

Biography of Marion Polakov. This biography is from a pamphlet that was used at the District 4 Compensation Committee dinner held in Buffalo on November 20, 1965. Marion Polakov and Joesph Molony were both honored at this dinner for their combined 46 years of leadership in the USWA compensation unit.
